What makes Swiss cheese “holey” is additional bacteria called Propionibacterium freudenrichii subspecies shermanii.
Cheeses must be stored in a cold temperature enclosed location such as a refrigerator or a chiller but not in a freezer to keep its edible life longer. Always make sure that you check the expiry and the condition of the food at all times.
